NEW DELHI: : Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on Saturday, issued an appeal to all Central Government employees and those working in Central public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies to contribute to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to help the victims of the earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official statement noted that parts of Jammu and Kashmir had been devastated by the earthquake on October 8.

Hundreds of people lost their lives, thousands rendered homeless and property worth crores damaged by the quake, it added.
