Women `Black Cats' team formed
NEW DELHI:
For the first time in the country, a unit of women `Black Cat' commandos has been created in the elite National Security Guards (NSG).
The 12-member squad is likely to be deployed for the protection of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and BSP chief Mayawati, both of whom enjoy Z plus category security.
Although both leaders already have NSG cover, the women commandos will provide proximate security to them, NSG sources said.
The commandos, drawn from the Central Railway Protection Force, have undergone rigorous training at the NSG's training centre in Manesar in Gurgaon near here. The women, aged between 24 and 34, were selected from among scores of personnel from various forces who had applied for donning the black dungaree with an arm band `Black Cat Commando', the sources said. ``They have undergone advance level training, including in close combat and unarmed combat.''
