American Airlines, Air Sahara pact
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
American Airlines has announced its code-share agreement with Air Sahara and unveiled its plans to launch non-stop daily Delhi-Chicago flights from November 17.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Athar Khan, managing director, Asia Pacific Region, said special promotional fares of Rs. 38,000 for a round-trip in the economy class would be available till February 28, 2006.
American Airlines would put its `AA' code on Air Sahara flights and the private Indian carrier would place its `S2' code on the service to Chicago and destinations beyond within the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. The code-share contract would enable American Airlines' customers to make easy connections throughout India using Air Sahara's network of 25 cities and 126 flights. Travellers from India could use Air Sahara's network to reach Delhi and then fly American Airlines to Chicago and beyond.
"The increase in trade relations between India and the U.S. has further boosted travel between the countries. With a passenger traffic of over 2.75 million, which grew five per cent as of this February, India represents a very attractive and viable market for American Airlines," Mr. Khan said.
