Power tariff cut mooted

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Power bills for domestic, commercial and other non-agriculture consumers in the State are likely to come down for a few months.

Citing the present steep increase in hydel generation following the floods in the Krishna and the Godavari, the AP Transco and the four distribution companies have submitted proposals to the A. P. Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) for passing the benefit of the relatively cheaper power on to consumers for a six-month period--April to September 2005. The benefit to consumers may not, however, be passed on in the form of cash. It will be adjusted against future bills from the cut-off date.
