coronary disease

NEW DELHI: "We need to nurture an optimum lifestyle right from childhood for a healthy and fulfilling life,'' Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B. L. Joshi said on Sunday at the 20th Annual Conference of the Delhi Branch of the Cardiological Society of India.

In his address, Mr. Joshi said cardiovascular disease was a very serious problem as there was a higher incidence of heart disease in the country. He said regular exercise, yoga, pranayam and meditation can help check the rising incidence of coronary artery disease. . Mr. Joshi said the young generation should take care of their health through proper healthy diet and exercise.

Science exhibition

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Public School hosted the regional level CBSE-Intel Science Exhibition 2005 this past week in which 174 students from 56 schools participated. As many as 98 models and projects on six sub-themes, including agriculture, industrial development, energy and its conservation, and mathematics modelling were put up. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Director of the Department of Biotechnology, S.R.Rao.

The Director (Academic), CBSE, G.Balasubramanian, visited the exhibition and expressed satisfaction at the high standard of exhibits. The panel of judges comprised experts from Delhi University, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Appointment

NEW DELHI: Union Labour and Employment Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has appointed Dharamvir Yadav, as chairperson of the Central Advisory Committee for Building and Other Construction Workers. Mr. Yadav, who has been the vice-president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, has been actively associated with various social organisations.

Disposal of solid waste

NEW DELHI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader V.K.Malhotra inaugurated a public-private partnership scheme for solid waste disposal at Pratab Nagar in West Delhi on Sunday.

Presiding over the function, the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Onkar Singh Thapar, said the unique scheme proposes a new system of collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste to minimise manual handling of waste.

Skin clinic opened

NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance Minister A. K. Walia and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma on Saturday inaugurated a Skin and Shape Clinic at Preet Vihar in East Delhi over the weekend. The clinic claims to offer the very latest in the field of laser for all skin related problems including hair problem, acne scars, freckles and facial pigmentation removal.
