NEW DELHI: Noted film critic Anil Saari passed away in the Capital on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was sixty. Son of the late Congress Rajya Sabha member Arjun Arora, Anil had been ailing with cancer of the stomach for some time. Beginning his career in 1963 with `The Patriot' daily, Anil also worked for publications like `Screen', `Sunday' besides prominent newspapers like `Hindustan Times' and 'Deccan Herald.' He was a member of the jury at the Berlin film festival in 1973 and has also written a novel and published a collection of his poems besides doing a short stint as a visiting professor at the Indian Film Institute in Pune. He was cremated on Sunday evening in the presence of a large number of media-persons, friends and admirers. Anil is survived by his wife Rashme, also a senior journalist and columnist, and three children.
