Army cannot force us into talks: ULFA

GUWAHATI: : The Centre's tactic to use force will not compel the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to come forward for parleys, its self-styled commander-in-chief Paresh Barua has said.

The ULFA had ``come forward for talks and the peace process had advanced quite a bit with the constitution of the `People's Consultative Group' to work out modalities for direct talks," between the ULFA and Centre., Mr. Barua told the local media here over phone from an undisclosed destination on Sunday night.

``But the Centre's conspiracy to use the Army— to make the ULFA sit for talks through its operations — weapons and use of force will not compel the ULFA to do so,'' he said. — PTI
