Bangalore: Rahul Shandilya emerged champion in the Open rapid chess tournament, with a tally of 12.5 points, here during the weekend. In the final round he defeated Gavi Siddaiah. Four players grabbed the second spot with 9.5 points each. B. Eswaran, V. Raghavendra, R. Sridharan and Sanjay Sindhia were the four players who jointly secured the runners-up slot.
Devraj, Bhanu shine
Devraj and Bhanu scored a brace each to help Venkatapura FC defeat Young Blues 5-2 in a Seven-a-side football tournament match here during the weekend. Govindaraj also scored for the victors while Noel and Ascendra score a goal each for Young Blues.
