KOLKATA:
Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly's first coach and grandfather Sachidananda Chatterjee died of cardiac arrest at his residence here on Monday.
He was 86 and is survived by a son and daughter.
His son Arup Chatterjee said, ``My father was Sourav's first coach. Sourav got his first lessons of the game from him.''
``Even today he looked up to his grandfather for advice. My father was a friend, philosopher and guide to Maharaj (Sourav),'' he said.
Chatterjee, a widower, has been the vice-president of Cricket Association of Bengal and Indian Football Association. He was ill for the last two months after a cerebral attack. UNI
