Teachers killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD: Suspected militants disguised as policemen shot and killed five teachers in a classroom of an elementary school south of Baghdad on Monday, police said.

The shooting occurred just as teachers and students were leaving the building at the end of the school day in Muelha, a village near the town of Iskandariyah, and no one else was in the classroom at the time of the shooting, said police Capt. Muthana Khaled.

Muelha, about 50 km south of Baghdad, is located in a predominantly Suni area. — AP
