SINGAPORE: India's Special Representative, M.K. Narayanan, arrived in Beijing on Sunday for talks with his Chinese counterpart, Dai Bingguo, on the boundary question. The talks, expected to last two days, will begin on Monday. The latest round will be the sixth in a series that began after the Prime Ministers of the two countries agreed in June 2003 to appoint Special Representatives to "explore the framework of a boundary settlement" by addressing the relevant issues from "a political perspective of the overall bilateral relationship." The latest round acquires importance in the context of the "political parameters" and "guiding principles," which the two countries agreed upon in April to carry forward the border parleys at the level of special representatives.
