Easy win for Nav Bharath

HYDERABAD: Nav Bharath Club blanked AC Guards Welfare Association 4-0 in the Sports Coaching Foundation Trophy hockey tournament for seniors on Sunday.

Suresh Singh converted in the 14th minute off a penalty stroke awarded by referee Ramesh Kutty when the ball deflected off a defender's legs during in the process of a penalty-corner hit. In the second session, winger Narayan Rao was on target with a fine solo effort in the 46th minute. Within a minute Manohar Singh struck to make it 3-0 and then David had a fine run down the right flank to dribble his way into the `D' before essaying an angular hit on the run to find the target and complete the tally for the winner.

In another match, APSRTC scored a 4-1 win over Secunderabad Sporting. Guruswamy, Uma Shankar, M.P. Shankar and D.N.V. Kumar were the scorers. For the loser the consolation goal came through Shoeb.

Monday is a rest day.

Meanwhile, it is informed that Hyderabad Hockey Association will organise umpires' clinic on Monday at it's office from 5.30 p.m. All the umpires are to report at the venue.
