Bangalore: Bishen Singh Bedi stressed that a man of Greg Chappell's stature should not be humiliated. Commenting on the recent turn of events in Indian cricket, Bedi said, "Chappell is a man of stature. He has a vision for Indian cricket and that is why he was appointed. He is concerned about the World Cup in 2007 and that is very close and infact he has been hired for that. Let us not disgrace him," Bedi told the media here during a nostalgic evening while he cut a birthday cake on turning 59. Bedi, who is here to supervise the spin camp along with E.A.S. Prasanna and V.V. Kumar, was pleasantly surprised as his protégé Sunil Joshi knocked on his hotel door and presented him a birthday cake. An overwhelmed Bedi thanked Joshi and also recalled a few anecdotes about cricket in the earlier days before answering queries on the Chappell-Ganguly spat. Meanwhile Chappell arrived here earlier this morning and was not available for comment.
