BANGALORE: Jayanagar Sports Club (JSC) crashed to its second defeat in three matches when it lost 62-58 to Beagles in the senior division State basketball league at the Sree Kanteerava stadium indoor courts here on Sunday evening. The winner led 36-21 at halftime. With captain Puneet in his elements, accounting for seven three pointers in his tally of 31 points, Beagles was on cruise mode. Though junior international Kaushal provided a glimmer of hope JSC was always doing the catching up. MEG maintained its winning streak but not before being taken the distance by fellow army unit ASC for a 67-60 win that came in extra time, after the teams were tied 60-all at full time. Changing sides at 36-35, the Sappers were well served by former international Sweeto Francis (23) and Tinu Joseph (17). HAL gave a good account of itself registering its third win, an easy 60-47 verdict over SAI (Dharwad) while reigning champion Vijaya Bank won a one-sided contest against lowly NAL Colony 77-33 with Kerala recruit Ronnie Zacharia tallying 29 points. Vijaya Bank, MEG, HAL and KSP have all maintained an all win record so far. The scores: Beagles 62 (Puneet 31, Arvind 10) bt JSC 58 (Kaushal 16) (ht: 36-21); HAL 60 (Sachindra 25, Rajkumar 12, Umashankar 10) bt SAI (Dharwad) 47 (Naresh 15, Srinivas 11) (ht: 35-30); Vijaya Bank 77 (Ronnie Zacharia 29, Basavaraj M. 12) bt NAL Colony 33 (ht: 35-17); KSP 74 (Mahesh 21, Sanath Shetty 12, Lokesh 12) bt Sports Hostel (B'lore) 60 (Sri Raksha 17, M.R.Varun 14) (ht: 38-35); MEG 67 (Sweeto Francis 23, Tinu Joseph 17) bt ASC 60 (Dharampal 15) (Full time: 60-60; ht: 36-35).
