Bangalore: S. Vasanth Saravanan (75 n.o.) and R. Satish (67) guided Chemplast in to the final of the Canara Bank centenary cricket championship. In the semifinal at the IAF Ground here on Sunday, the duo's knocks helped Chemplast defeat host KSCA by six wickets. Earlier KSCA scored 242 for nine in 50 overs with S. Vinod chipping in a 51 but the total hardly tested Chemplast as the Chennai-based outfit found a rich vein of runs through Sujith Somasundar (45), Vasanth Saravanan and Satish. Chemplast won in 46 overs. In another semifinal, Indian Airlines defeated India Cements by 28 runs. Indian Airlines scored 200 with Shafiq Khan (60) anchoring the innings. Later in the afternoon, India Cements faltered in the chase and mustered 172. The final between Chemplast and Indian Airlines will be a day-and-night match and will be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday. The scores (semifinals): KSCA 242 for nine in 50 overs (S. Vinod 51) lost to Chemplast 248 for four in 46 overs (S. Vasanth Saravanan 75 n.o., R. Satish 67, Sujith Somasundar 45). Indian Airlines 200 in 47.4 overs (Shafiq Khan 60, D.J. Gokulkrishnan four for 36) bt India Cements 172 in 47.1 overs (M.K. Siva Kumar 40 n.o.).
