KOLKATA: Anastasia Myskina sounded relieved having broken the title drought dogging her career for almost a year. She termed her final win on Sunday as something, "really, really special.'' The 2004 French Open champion said the Sunfeast Open triumph puts her stuttering career back on the track. Having focused all the week to gain her form back, the lithe champion was ecstatic about her win over Carolina Sprem. "I played good all through the week. I am now feeling that my form of 2004 is getting back,'' she said after the final. Myskina added that the title was special for her as it came at "the right time when the indoor season is just starting.'' She said the Sunfeast title, that gave her 120 WTA ranking points, was also special as in putting her with the chance to break into the top-10 of the world rankings.
Sprem praises her rival
More than her own defeat, Carolina Sprem started with praising her opponent. The Croatian, also on a comeback trail, noted, "she (Myskina) was playing really well today. My game was not bad today but she returned much better breaking me so many times,'' she said and zestfully added that, "I would not like meet Myskina again in a final,'' The Croatian was happy that she could reach the final as it will help her regain the confidence. "I had been losing out early in most of the tournament this year. The tournament here will help me getting back the rhythm,'' she said.
