DHAKA: Former Pakistan Chief Justice Javid Iqbal has opined that Bangladesh is the only Muslim majority country that has a functional democracy. "There is no democracy and discipline in any Muslim country, excepting Bangladesh. Multi-party democracy has flourished in Bangladesh and it has developed a two-party functional democratic system," Justice Iqbal, son of the great poet and renowned Islamic scholar Allama Iqbal, told reporters on Friday on the sidelines of a seminar here. Bangladesh is ahead of Pakistan in this respect and is leading the Islamic countries. Rewinding the pages of history, Dr. Iqbal expressed regret over the Pakistani occupation forces' atrocities on the people of former East Pakistan during the Liberation War in 1971.
