Opportunities galore up for grabs

Staff Reporter

52,844 online registrations made

CHENNAI: Job-seeker or otherwise, one would be tempted to visit The Hindu Opportunities Fair 2005 for its wide range. And the probability of one returning with an offer letter is quite high.

Over 40 companies, 100 stalls and thousands of opportunities — all under one roof. The Hindu Opportunities Fair is back in the city. It will be held on September 24 and 25 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam.

The response so far has been very good, says V. Kalidas, vice-president, Advertising, The Hindu. As on Wednesday evening, there were 52,844 online registrations andmany more are expected. Candidates can register online at www.thehindu.com or www.braingain.com.

The organisers have equipped themselves to handle close to 50,000 spot registrations. They have also made arrangements for computer terminals for the candidates and food at subsidised rates.

Crowd management has been meticulously planned to facilitate good participation and ensure maximum benefit to all. Provision has been made for companies to conduct tests and interviews at the venue. Registration and entry to the fair are free.

Cognizant Technology Solutions, the presenting sponsor of the event, made over 300 spot offers in the previous The Hindu Opportunities Fairs. "Advertisements do not pay off quickly. It is branding that works. The Hindu is a top brand and so are we. It's a win-win situation for both of us," says Venkatesan Seshadri, vice-president, Global Resource Management Group, Cognizant. "Such fairs give us an opportunity to meet candidates in flesh and blood. These make spot decisions possible," he says.

Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has arranged for special buses to the Trade Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
