KOLKATA: : Former champion Mohun Bagan continued its good run winning its fifth consecutive Premier division match of the Calcutta Football League beating AVI Ever-Ready 1-0 here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday. In the other matches of the same group, defending champion Kingfisher East Bengal beat UCO George Telegraph 2-0 while Mohammedan Sporting was held goalless by Kolkata Port Trust. Mohun Bagan faced a stiff challenge from Ever-Ready but managed to collect the full quota of points from a 48th minute goal scored by its striker Dipendu Biswas. The win helped Mohun Bagan garner 15 points from five matches. East Bengal, losing to Mohun Bagan after playing a goalless draw against Ever-Ready in the earlier rounds, saw its fortune improving with the inclusion of the former international I.M. Vijayan. Having figured prominently with two goals in the earlier match, the old warhorse struck the lead for East Bengal in the 11th minute against the Telegraph men. Shylo Malswamtluanga struck the second goal late in 86th minute to make it a comfortable 2-0 for East Bengal. Sports Reporter
