Geet Sethi to chair Arjuna Awards panel

NEW DELHI: Former World billiards champion Geet Sethi will head the 15-member selection committee for the prestigious government awards. The committee will select the awardees for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and the Arjuna Awards for the year 2004, and the Dhyan Chand Awards for the year 2005.

The awards are expected to be presented at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here on August 29.

The committee: Geet Sethi (billiards and snooker), Kamlesh Mehta (table tennis), Pullela Gopi Chand (badminton), Harbinder Singh (hockey), Khajan Singh Tokas (swimming), Manoj Pingale (boxing), Jaideep Mukherjea (tennis), Bhuwaneshwari Kumari (squash), Shubhangi Kulkarni (cricket), Sanjeeva Singh (archery), Secretary of the Indian Airlines Sports Board, Secretary of the Services Sports Control Board, Joint Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Director General of the Sports Authority of India and Director (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
