KOVILPATTI: Host National Engineering College, Kovilpatti claimed the title defeating MEPCO Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi 3-1 in the final of the Anna University Zone IX inter-collegiate hockey tournament here on Thursday. Saravanan scored a brace and Daniel scored one for National Engineering. Sujith scored for MEPCO. In the semifinals, National Engineering beat Arulmigu Kalasalingam Engg College Krishnan Kovil 3-1. Ramkumar, Sankarram, Ramson scored for National Vasanth scored for AKCE. MEPCO Schlenk beat Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli 5-1. Sugith and Leo Stephen scored two goals each and Ezhil scored the other for MEPCO. Narayanan scored for Tirunelveli college. — Sports Correspondent
