Talks over Naga blockade inconclusive

Special Correspondent

GUWAHATI: The deadlock over the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur and Naga Students' Federation (NSF) sponsored indefinite economic blockade in NH 39 continues as discussion between the representatives of the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) and All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) and the Apunba Lup held under the aegis of the North-East Students' Organisation (NESO) and the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Wednesday failed to arrive at a solution.

The former president of the All Assam Students Union (AASU), Prabin Boro, said NSF leaders had told the representatives of the Apunba Lup and Manipur students' body they the Naga student body would withdraw the blockade only if the Manipur Government revoked its decision of declaring June 18 as an Integrity Dy and State holiday.

Reacting to NSF stand, AMSU and Apunba Lup members urged the economic blockade supporters to opt for different mode of agitation and respect the mandate of Manipur people who supported the Government's decision to observe Integrity Day.
