Indian soldiers help locate Pakistani's body
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Indian soldiers at a high-altitude post near the Siachen Glacier helped recover the body of a Pakistani counterpart missing since February.
Earlier this week, the two countries briefly exchanged words over small arms firing on an Indian post near Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Around the same time, Indian troops in sub-sector Hanif responded to a request from the Pakistani authorities to locate a missing soldier. On spotting the body from their winter post, they informed the Pakistani authorities and it was recovered on Thursday.
On February 15, the Pakistani soldier slipped from his post and rolled down the steep slopes towards the Line of Control. However, immediate operations could not be launched due to bad weather.
After the snow level came down, Indian troops spotted the body on Tuesday and it was recovered by Pakistan.
