MADURAI: Co-optex has planned to display new designs and varieties of cotton and silk sarees, churidar sets and bed sheets at the 15-day exhibition, which begins on Thursday.
The fabrics will have a wide range of colours light and bright fluorescents, neutrals like white, beige, green, saffron, yellow, brown etc.
Co-optex showroom on the South Chithirai Street will remain so for two weeks.
Co-optex remains a pioneer in introducing new designs and colours in cotton varieties.
Similarly, this year, it has planned to introduce new designs in cotton and silk wearable and non-wearable, keeping abreast of the changing fashion trends in the textile market, according to the Regional Manager, R. Balasubramanian.
He said the summer sale-cum-exhibition would showcase more than 2000 new designs on silk and cotton sarees, bed sheets and churidars developed by the National Institute of Design, Bangalore, Kalakshetra, Chennai and Fine Arts Department of Stella Mary's College, Chennai. A few designs had been received from freelancers also.
Mr. Balasubramanian said this year Co-optex had fixed the sales target at Rs.1,100 lakhs. Last year, the Co-optex, Madurai division, mopped up Rs.787.14 lakhs through sales.
The division comprises 18 outlets functioning in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts.
Silk varieties made at Kancheepuram and Arni, Aafine jari variety sarees made in Coimabatore and Salem, cotton sarees from Sirumugai, Paramakudi, Thoppur, Jayankondam, Tiruchi and Sholingar and blankets from Chennimalai and Kallidaikurichi would be displayed at the exhibition.
The cotton sarees are priced at a range of Rs.300-1000. A special 20 per cent discount is offered for all varieties at the exhibition, which will remain open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days (from June 30 to July 17), including weekends.
