Gaurav Nandrajog goes down fighting

MUMBAI: Unseeded Gaurav Nandrajog came close to a career high against Pakistan's Khalid Atlas Khan, rallying hard to take the men's third round match of the Herald Maritime Services Squash Open into the decider at the Otters Club on Wednesday.

The Indian, however, lost 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6 to Khalid, one of Jansher Khan's nephews.

In the ISP-organised event, sponsored by Poonawalla Stud Farm and co-sponsored by Chemistry, Aamir Atlas, the reigning Asian junior champion, scored a comfortable victory over Egypt's Mohsen Ahmed.

Khalid will take on second seed world junior champion Ramy Ashour of Egypt in the quarterfinals. Ashour ended Sahil Vora's aspirations.
