ALAPPUZHA: The RSP Alappuzha district committee has demanded that the Union Government withdraw the permission given by the Union Mining Ministry to four companies for mining mineral sand from Thrikkunnappuzha and Arattupuzha panchayats of Alappuzha district. At a press conference here on Tuesday, RSP district secretary P.D. Karthikeyan said the Union Mining Ministry's permission for mining was the result of the pressure exerted by the State Government. The RSP is organising a coastal march from Pallana in Thrikkunnappuzha panchayat to Arattupuzha on June 8 demanding withdrawal of the permission and rejection of the John Mathew Commission report.
