Letters to the Editor
This refers to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's observation that free power supply to farmers is an obstacle to economic self-reliance. Free power was one of the UPA promises made during the elections. Reversal of the same may be in keeping with the ground reality but one cannot but pity the voters who get carried away and vote on the basis of such promises. Such turnarounds breed distrust in the entire election process and hence we witness lower turnouts with each passing election.
