Advani visit

L.K. Advani's visit to Pakistan is welcome. Given his claim that the thaw in India-Pakistan relations was the result of the NDA Government's initiative, his visit should promote dialogue further. If he dispels the impression in Pakistan that he sabotaged the Agra summit, the ongoing peace process will gain momentum. It will have the approval and support of both the ruling and Opposition alliances.

J.M. Manchanda,
New Delhi

It is heartening that Pervez Musharraf and Mr. Advani have spoken with one voice on the need to make the peace process "irreversible" and take it to its logical conclusion.

The visit of the Leader of the Opposition is significant. An atmosphere of camaraderie has been created with more people-to-people contacts. This will help to enhance mutual trust — a basic ingredient of the peace process.

K. Murlidar,
Chennai
