Finding a place in job market

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli conducted a campus interview recently for students of M.Sc. Criminology and Criminal Justice at the university campus.

Nine students were selected as management trainees in the field of security management. They will be trained for four months in unarmed combat, security management and record maintenance. Then they will be absorbed as assistant security managers and may be placed in countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai based on the needs and the performance of candidates during the training.

Besides, seven students were placed as counsellors in various NGOs based at Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Theni and Coimbatore districts. One of the students will work as a counsellor for tsunami-hit children.

The department did this by preparing a placement brochure, which was sent to security and private detective agencies and NGOs as it contained a detailed report on curricula, faculty and students' profiles.

The students were fine-tuned in presentation and communication skills, writing technical report and improving leadership qualities etc. The placement brochure can be downloaded from http://www.doccj.co.nr
