House burgled

TAMBARAM:
: Gold jewellery weighing about 25 sovereigns has reportedly been stolen from the house of the daughter of a former Director General of Police, in Kottivakkam. Biju, 45, had left the house yesterday with other inmates. The burglary came to light when they returned this morning.
Huts gutted
Thirteen huts were destroyed in a fire that broke out a Malanganathapuram, in Pallavaram, this evening. Electrical short circuit is believed to be the cause. No one was injured. A couple of fire tenders from Tambaram battled for more than an hour to put out the flames.
