Girls outshine boys in ISC, ICSE exams

NEW DELHI: Girls have outshone boys yet again in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class XII and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X examinations, the results of which were announced by the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Wednesday.

Drop in percentage

While the pass percentage in the ISC examination saw a drop of 0.91 per cent from last year to 93.57 per cent, the overall pass percentage in the ICSE examination was 94.24 per cent — an increase of 0.95 per cent over last year.

In the case of ISC examination the pass percentage was 95.93 for girls and 91.79 for boys, while in the ICSE stream the pass percentage for girls was 95.09 as against 93.59 for boys.

This year 39,693 students from 528 schools wrote the ISC examination, while 87,513 students from 1,187 schools appeared for the ICSE examination.

There has been an increase of 0.5 and 0.8 per cent respectively in the girl-boy ratio in ISC and ICSE.
