Special school performs well in Villupuram

VILLUPURAM: St.John's Special School is one of the seven schools in Villupuram district that have produced cent per cent results in the Plus Two examinations held in March 2005. In the special school there were six handicapped students and all of them passed out.

Of the six schools run by the Adi Dravida Welfare Department, the one at Pulichapallam near Panchavadi has produced 98 per cent results; ie., 150 of the 153 candidates who sat for the examinations passed. Last year the pass percentage in the school was 79 and the previous year 45 per cent.

According to the Chief Educational Officer, S.Kannappan, the district had registered a pass percentage of 66.68 per cent, an increase of 4.68 per cent over that of last year (62 per cent). Of the total number of 18,801 candidates (boys - 10,606 and girls - 8,195) sat for the examinations, 12,537 (boys - 7,010 and girls - 5,527) came out successfully.
