CHENNAI, FEB.13. The junior Sankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt, Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, who was released on a conditional bail in the Sankararaman murder case on Thursday, complied with the court order today by reporting to the Thousand Lights police station in Chennai City and affixing his thumb impression to the register kept there. The acharya arrived at the venue at 9.45 a.m. His car was stopped a few metres away, and some devotees of the mutt and police personnel escorted him to the police station. Barricades were put up near the station on the Greams Road to regulate traffic. Police pickets were also posted in the area. As the acharya emerged from the police station at 9.50 a.m. after fulfilling the legal formalities, he blessed the devotees amid chants of "Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara."
Being the first Sunday after his release on bail, there was a constant flow of devotees at the Kamakshi Amman Temple on Greenways Road, where the junior acharya is staying. There were special prayers and parayanams.
