Bhimsen Joshi turns 83

PUNE, FEB. 4. Classical maestro Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who celebrated his 83rd birthday today, has opined that remix music is actually ``music that is bandaged''.

Accepting wishes from his admirers at his residence here this morning, Pandit Joshi told the media. ``Remix to sangitki malampatti hain (remix is like bandaging good music)'', he remarked while answering a question.

Hailing from the Kirana Gharana, Pandit Joshi, who is famed for his Hindi and Marathi ``bhajans'', added that barring remix any form of music was acceptable to him.

Eminent personalities were present at Pandit Joshi's residence here to wish him good health. Pt Uday Bhavalkar, Raghunandan Panshikar, and the brother duo of Udayraj and Mukundraj Godbole who are famous for their ``natyasangeet'' greeted him on the occasion. -- UNI
