Letters to the Editor
Sir, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has called for nobility in politics to bring about a change in the country (Feb. 3). One can understand the President's anguish. The prophetic words of Rabindranath Tagore in The Call of Truth, written in 1921, come to mind: "Alien Government in India is a veritable chameleon. Today it comes in the guise of the Englishman; tomorrow perhaps as some other foreigner; the next day without abating a jot of its virulence, it may take the shape of our own countrymen."
