Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, JAN. 26. The sky will be partly cloudy on Thursday with a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at Nungambakkam on Wednesday were 31.2 degrees Celsius and 22.8, while Meenambakkam recorded 31 degrees Celsius and 22.3. Humidity was 76 per cent at both the places.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Egmore on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Telugu classes

Free Telugu classes will begin on February 15 at two centres: the World Telugu Federation office at Ankur Plaza, 113, GN Chetty Road, T. Nagar and V. Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School, North Railway Station Road, Tiruvottiyur. The classes, held under the banner of WTF will be from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on every Friday and Saturday. Blood donation

At a camp organised jointly by Amway Opportunity Foundation, Jeevan Blood Bank and Madras Voluntary Blood Bank, over 120 persons donated blood on Monday.

AIDS awareness

Centre for Universal Health Care Trust held an AIDS awareness camp and a weightlifting contest in Triplicane on Friday. Officials from the Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society participated in the prize-distribution function.

Eye camp

Jayavidya Learning Centre will hold a free eye camp for children aged 4 to 15 on Sunday and on February 6 at Vijayabarati Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Vadapalani. For details contact: 98410 23115/98410 74115.

Annual Day

Medavakkam-based Vidhya Maticulation Higher Secondary School celebrated its annual day on Sunday. Those who participated included Justice S. Mohan, former Supreme Court judge. Students put up a cultural programme.
