A victim of eve teasing
According to the police, an auto driver, Sk. Khader Mastan of Toorpukambhampadu village, had been allegedly teasing her for quite some time. He allegedly addressed a letter to her recently following which he was reprimanded by the girl's parents and relatives. Last evening, when the girl was returning from college, the accused, along with two others, allegedly blocked the girl's way and sought to take her photograph. When Sujatha cried for help, the accused took to his heels. On retuning home, Sujatha reportedly consumed pesticide and died on way to hospital on Friday. The police nabbed the accused and are investigating.
Transco moves to redress grievances
This was stated by Rachel Chatterjee, Chairperson and Managing Director, APTransco, while reviewing the consumer service initiatives with CMDs of discoms and senior officials here on Friday. She said that complaints received during the programme were being recorded, documented and consumers given acknowledgements. Divisional engineers, assistant divisional engineers and assistant engineers were asked to redress the grievances in a time-bound programme.
Ramasubba Reddy hospitalised
The Jail Superintendent, M. Chandrashekhar, said that Mr. Reddy had a history of chest-related problems and was earlier treated at the NIMS.

Court fiat to Assembly Secretary
These directions were issued by a Division Bench, comprising the Chief Justice Devinder Gupta, and Justice M. Narayana Reddy, while dealing with a writ petition filed by Suryachander Rao, a leader from Krishna district. The petitioner informed the court that the bills produced by the MLA were declared not genuine by the hospital concerned. The Secretary was asked to submit a report in four weeks.
Congress organisational posts
The three-tier elections to the party's primary committees, booth committees and DCCs will be completed by March 14 and the PCC president's election - a mere formality here as K. Keshava Rao had already been appointed - will be completed by April 30. Addressing a press conference, the PCC chief, Dr. Keshava Rao, urged leaders to maintain strict confidentiality of the process.
Forest officers' recruitment
Sources in the Commission said that there has been no recruitment of FROs for the last one decade. Rampant felling of trees due to shortage of Forest Officers has forced the Forest Department to request the Government to conduct a recruitment test. The Principal Secretary (Forests) has recently written to the General Administration Department to give clearance for recruitment of 170 FROs. However, the Government has approved 50 posts. The Commission is also gearing up to conduct recruitment test for 160 vacant posts of Non-Gazetted Officers in various departments.
Dry weather prevails

Rail roko by Congressmen
Over 200 Congress activists detained Hyderabad-bound Tungabhadra Express for sometime. The gate was closed over four years ago following construction of a road overbridge, near the Collector's camp office, to facilitate commuters to cross the railway track.
Teachers to picket Secretariat
The decision to stage the protest involving 50,000 teachers was taken at a meeting of representatives of the unions in Hyderabad on Friday. The State Teachers Union district president, K. Bheem Rao, and the secretary, S. Mukund Rao, told reporters here that their demands were announcement of a pay revision committee and common service rules and postings to 17,000 selected candidates in DSC 2003.
Mammoth plantation drive
At a meeting here on Friday, the district Collector, D.V. Raidu, asked the Forest Department to gear up for the gigantic task. Plants like pongamia and zetropha would be planted on the premises of Government offices, corporations, temples and in waste lands. Farmers would be urged to take up subabul plantations, the Collector said.
Integration camp
Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, the NSS coordinator, G. Benerjee, said 300 NSS volunteers from 20 universities of the country would participate. During the camp volunteers would undertake shramdan in villages and organise lectures by eminent personalities.
Farm labourers killed in mishap
Ellaiah (55), a resident of Dongala Dharmaram, and Pochavva (38) of Makkarajpet died while eight others were injured.
Jana Reddy for Nizamabad
He will review law and order situation with police officers and later leave for Nirmal in Adilabad district, according to the Superintendent of Police, N. Madhusudhan Reddy.
