BANGALORE, DEC. 27. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited scored its seventh win from eight matches to be strongly in contention for the Super Division league hockey title currently underway at the hockey stadium. BPCL's 5-1 win over Centre of Excellence ensured that it along with Army XI was at the head of the points tally. CoE's Arun Rawat scored off a penalty stroke in the 13th minute but thereafter it was BPCL's show all the way. Nippy forward Amar Aiyamma scored thrice but Pundalik's goal in the interim prevented a hat-trick for Aiyamma. Earlier Len Aiyappa crashed in a penalty corner push to level the scores for BPCL. In the first match of the day, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited beat Pioneer Corps Training Centre 3-0. M D Chinappa, KP Roy and Anil Anand scored for HAL.
