COLOMBO: Arsonists set fire to a Roman Catholic church near the Sri Lankan capital on Sunday, in the second such attack on the church this year, police and a church official said. ``Our church is gone this time, nothing is left which is usable,'' said Dan de Silva, a church official in Homagama, about 20 km south of Colombo. The same church was set on fire in January, but the damage was limited. ``Some people came before dawn and set fire to the church building,'' said De Silva, speaking by the telephone. The church was constructed seven years ago for 200 Christian families that live in the area.
