Railway issues train accident victims' list

NEW DELHI, DEC. 15. The Northern Railway today issued the list of 37 persons who were killed in Tuesday's collision between Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad Express and 1 JMP passenger train on the Jalandhar-Pathankot section in Punjab. One body is still to be identified.

Those who died at Civil Hospital, Mukerian (Telephone No. 01883-244702) are Kebal Singh (Gurdaspur), Sugni (Bargans, Madhya Pradesh), Rajesh (Gurchi, Madhya Pradesh), Madan Lal (Hoshiyarpur), Nayee Abadi (Gurdaspur), Tarsem Lal (Hoshiyarpur), Jagdish Kumar (Jalandhar), Kamrool Singh (Purnia, Bihar), Dilbah Singh (Tanda), Neelam Jeet Kaur, Baljinder Kaur, Harpreet Kaur, Ashok Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Bholi Devi, Jila Ram, Sanyogita, Dalbir Singh, Dhian Chand (all of Pathankot), Jagdish Chand (Kangra), Sunita, Lal Bahadur (both of Mukerian), Bishan Dass (Gurdaspur); Naresh (Jallandhar City); Munnia, Munna, Trilok Singh, Savitri Devi, Jagat Rani Devi, Sonia, Daulat Ram, Bhagwati, Surinder Singh Dhillon and Rohit.

The dead also included four railway employees -- Yashpal Singh who was Spare Assistant Driver posted at Ferozpur; Avtar Singh, the driver of ill-fated DMU train and a resident of railway Colony, Jalandhar; Kishan Kumar, a passenger train driver and Anant Ram who was posted as gateman at village Garhi near the accident site.

Of the 37 injured, 16 have been admitted to Civil Hospital at Mukerian (Telephone No. 01883-244702), 11 to Dasua Civil Hospital (Telephone No. 01883-285083) and 10 to Civil Hospital in Jalandhar and DMC Hospital in Ludhiana (Telephone No. 0161-5026999, 2304231).
