NEW DELHI, DEC. 15. The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, today said the problem of housing in the Capital, particularly for those staying in slums, could be solved through a comprehensive scheme of co-operative housing implemented in co-ordination between the Delhi Government and the Central Government. Reiterating her government's commitment for in-situ development of slums and a rational and humane rehabilitation policy, Ms. Dikshit said low cost co-operative housing was high on the Government's agenda and concrete steps would be taken in next few months. Speaking at a national seminar on "Co-operative Housing for Slum Dwellers" organised by the National Co-operative Housing Federation of India, Ms. Dikshit said the Delhi Co-operative Bill would be introduced in the winter session of the Delhi Assembly Session. She hoped that the enactment of this Bill would provide an impetus to the co-operative movement in the Capital.
