NEW DELHI, DEC. 15. The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party led by its president, Harsh Vardhan, will hold a massive demonstration near the Delhi Assembly on Thursday demanding immediate withdrawal of the recent increase in water charges. The winter session of the Assembly begins on Thursday. In a statement on Wednesday, Dr. Vardhan urged the party workers to organise demonstrations in all the 16 districts in protest against the water price hike by staging torch procession, padyatra, rallies and dharnas. "This anti-people Delhi Government has reached a secret pact with the multinational agencies and companies to privatise water utility in the coming days. We cannot be expected to keep quite on such a crucial matters and warned the Government against any kind sell out," he said. Dr. Vardhan alleged that the World Bank was taking a special interest in the privatisation process of the DJB. "By conniving with foreign companies Ms. Dikshit intends to ensure that the water supply system of Delhi is handed over to multinational companies making life hell for the poor consumers," he said.
