Korean team to visit IGNCA

NEW DELHI DEC.15. A delegation of senior Government officials and scholars from Korea will visit the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) here on Thursday to give shape to a series of joint programmes.

Announcing this today, the Member Secretary and Trustee, IGNCA, K.K. Chakravarty, said the programmes would be a part of the IGNCA's endeavour to highlight India's cultural relations with other countries.

Dr. Chakravarty said the objective was to reanimate the Indo-Korean dialogue by demonstrating a correspondence between birds, animals, plants, zodiacal signs, Buddha, Bodhisatvas in visual and performing arts and relations between nature and culture, arts and life in India and Korea.

Bhutan Ambassador meet L-G

NEW DELHI DEC. 15. The Ambassador of Bhutan, Lyonpo Dago Tschering, today called on the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, B.L. Joshi, at Raj Niwas here. The Director, North, Ministry of External Affairs, Achal Kumar Malhotra, was also present on the occasion.

Mentioning the developmental strides made by Bhutan, Mr. Joshi appreciated the initiatives taken by that country in environmental conservation and expressed hope that the hydroelectric project of Bhutan would help ease power shortage in Northern States including Delhi.

Malaysian students visit Amity

NEW DELHI DEC. 15. The Ritnand Balved Education Foundation arranged a teacher-student exchange programme with Elc International, Malaysia, at the Amity International School here from December 6 to 13.

About 11 students and 2 teachers from the Elc International School besides attending classes with their hosts also went for sight-seeing and community visits.

A cultural evening and farewell dinner was also held.

School annual function

NEW DELHI DEC. 15. Little Blossom Playway School of Sector 16-A, Vasundhara celebrated its annual function at its premises. The Deputy Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Rajesh Aggarwal, was the chief guest on the occasion. He inaugurated the function by lighting a lamp. The cultural show "Umang-2004" began with the rendition of Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by a welcome song sung by kindergarten students. The little ones of pre-nursery and nursery classes danced on different melodious songs.

Monograph on Bismillah Khan

NEW DELHI DEC. 15. A monograph on shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan, to be released on his 90th birthday next year, would be used to `mobilise funds' for orphans and provide financial support to the art and music students all over the country.

The monograph, said to be the first of its kind, has been written and compiled by Neena Jha, a science teacher of St. Thomas School, Ghaziabad, a media release said here today.

The 200-page monograph and having more than 150 rare photographs has accommodated 15 chapters including "Cultural transformation of India, the Holy Ganga: The Mother of Swar, changing tune of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma, Fate of a Holy city: Varanasi, Ghats of Varanasi, Voice of over One billion people, and awards and recognitions," the statement said.
