NEW DELHI, DEC. 15. The Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, has written to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, complaining of step-motherly treatment meted out to Madhya Pradesh by the United Progressive Alliance Government. In the letter -- copies were released to the Press here by Mr. Chauhan -- he claimed that in September 143 MW of electricity that came to Madhya Pradesh from Kota in Rajasthan was cut; then 103 MW which was earlier available to the State from the Centre was cut; and than on December 7 the Centre further reduced availability of electricity to Madhya Pradesh by 107 MW. Mr. Chauhan pointed out that at this time of the year farmers needed electricity for irrigation and "in this peak season the availability of electricity to the State has been reduced by 455 MW''. He said that the Prime Minister would surely agree with him that politics should not be allowed to interfere with the development of any State and should be kept out when taking critical decisions, which would necessarily have a bearing on development and the livelihood and production of farmers.
