LUCKNOW, OCT. 31. Authorities today withdrew curfew from all but one area of Orai, as no fresh untoward incident was reported from anywhere in that town. An indefinite curfew was clamped in the Orai township, the headquarters of Jaluan district, on Friday after the murder of two Muslim clerics. Police sources today said curfew was withdrawn from all places of the township from 11am except these under the Kotwali police station area -- Chowki Bhallav Nagar, Tiloknagar, Kosh Bus Stand, Mohalla New Patel Nagar, Jail road, Nilambari and Kachana road. The sources said that 13 persons have been arrested while FIRs have been lodged against some other people in connection with the incident. Maulana Fahim Ghauri belonging to the Deoband sect was shot dead by miscreants after the morning namaz near the Masjid located in Bajaria township on Friday. Soon after, another group killed Maulana Bashir Ahmed Kadri of the Barelwi sect in retaliation. The police said the murders were the fallout of a decade- old dispute between the two sects over the domination of the `Piro wali masjid'. In the bloody dispute, three daughters and two sons of Maulana Kadri and two sons of Imam Ghauri were also seriously injured. Rival group members also tried to set afire shops in the town and damaged several houses. The district administration later clamped indefinite curfew in Orai while additional police force was deployed to prevent any further violence. UNI
