Volleyball
BANGALORE, OCT. 11 . The laidback attitudes of the senior division volleyball teams seem to reflect in the their showing on the court too. At the Sree Kanteerava outdoor courts here today, the Postal team trooped in after a full hour late for its 2.30 fixture against ITI and the match ultimately got underway at 4.15 p.m. And the result: Postal, which was the champion side only two seasons ago, lost miserably to a depleted ITI without a whimper. Despite the presence of a few local stalwarts in its ranks if teams like Postal and AGORC are losing out, it's a sheer case of attitude. ITI led by former State captain Ravindra showed lots of pluck to out hit Postal 25-19, 25-16, 25-19 in just about 55 minutes, while at the adjacent court, AGORC weathered Sport Hostel's challenge to romp home in style at 27-25, 25-23, 25-21 in under an hour. BEL with veterans Chandre Gowda and Balaji in its ranks inflicted on HMT its 10th straight defeat with a 21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-14 margin. In the women's section, Surya SC suffered two successive defeats. While its straight sets loss (11-25, 15-25, 16-25) against all too powerful KSP was on expected lines the meek surrender against Mysore Sports Hostel was die to some scrappy play. Mysore Hostelites won 25-11, 25-8, 25-12. In another match SAI girls out spiked Mount Carmel College 25-12, 25-10, 25-6 in about 50 minutes. Our Sports Reporter
