TASHKENT, OCT. 11. Fifth-seeded Anca Barna of Germany defeated Thailand's Suchapan Viratprasert 6-2, 6-4 on Monday to advance to the second round of the US$140,000 Tashkent Open tennis tournament.
Fifth-seeded Barna, 67th the WTA Tour rankings, had little trouble against the Thai rated 121 places lower. Viratprasert rallied from love-40 to earn a break point in the final game of the match, but failed to convert, allowing Barna to finally win after the fifth deuce.
