The defending champion, American College Higher Secondary School `A', Madurai was off to a good start in the 18th annual State-level basketball tournament for school boys defeating M.D.T. Hindu HSS 41-20 here on Friday.
The results: American College HSS `A' 41 (Prasanna 10, Vijay Pandi 10) bt MDT Hindu HSS 20; St. Michael HSS, Coimbatore 54 (Akilan 15, Sureshkumar 11) bt Theerthapathi HSS, Ambasamudram 13; St. Xaviers HSS, Palayamkottai 52 bt MMHSS Idaikal 29 (Balasubramanian 10).
