VISAKHAPATNAM, SEPT. 26. Enrolment in the electoral list can be done soon on the Internet, according to the Chief Electoral Officer, M. Narayana Rao. A software is being designed for the purpose. Downloading of application forms for enrolment has already been operational. The issue of photo identity cards will be taken up after the revision of the rolls. Speaking at a meeting with political parties on revision of electoral rolls for 2005, he said it would go on till October 15. Those who complete 18 years of age as on January 2005 are eligible for enrolment.
Relevant forms
After going through the draft list, those who do not find their name or notice incorrect details should get them corrected by applying in the relevant forms. For enrolment, application should be submitted in Form 6, for deletion of name or objections on other details in Form 7, and for correction of address or age etc in Form 8 and for change from one polling centre to another in 8 A. The applications can be downloaded from `www.eci.gov.in' or `aponline.gov.in'. Photostat, typed or handwritten applications will also be accepted. Applications will also be available in post offices.
Special counters
Mr. Narayana Rao said applications would be received at the special counters to be set up at polling centres on October 9 and 10. He said to rectify lapses like enumerators not visiting some houses the changes had been brought about. He categorically stated that no deletions would take place to suit statistics. On migrant persons, he said they could enrol at the place of their stay. Earlier, at a meeting with officials, he said names of genuine voters should not be deleted. Extensive publicity should be given by organising gram sabhas and through various organisations.
Cheque presented
The CEO gave away a cheque for Rs. 2.5 lakhs to Sheikh Amina, wife of Sheikh Meera, who died while discharging election duty at Chodavaram. The District Collector, Praveen Prakash, the Municipal Commissioner, N. Srikant, the Paderu and Narsipatnam Sub-Collectors, C. Sudarshan Reddy and Sourab Gour, Ch. Narsinga Rao of CPI(M), Charan Kumar (Congress), M. Sundaram Patrudu (TDP), Satyanarayana Murthy (CPI), and S.A. Raju (BSP), attended.
