CBSE paper leak accused denied bail

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 16. The Delhi High Court today refused to grant anticipatory bail to Sudheer Sachdeva, chairman of the Sachdeva New P.T. College coaching institute here, in the case of leak of the question papers of the Central Board of Secondary Education-conducted (CBSE) All-India Pre-Medical Test this past April, saying that there was no change in the circumstances of the case since rejection of his bail this past July.

Sachdeva sought bail on the ground that the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi police had found nothing incriminating against him in the raids at his office and residence here recently.

Rejecting the bail application, Justice B.N. Chaturvedi said the applicant had failed to bring before the Court any evidence of change in the circumstances of the case. In July, Justice J.P. Singh had rejected his application for anticipatory bail observing that the charges levelled against him the applicant were serious in nature.

Sachdeva was questioned in July by the Economic Offences Wing of the city police in connection with the case when he appeared before it after grant of anticipatory bail by the Orissa High Court. His alleged involvement in the case came to light after the Crime Branch arrested Hemant Sharma, an employee of the Confidential Branch of the CBSE, for allegedly leaking the papers and the coaching institute's administrative manager, N.K. Thaplu, for purchasing them.
